The proposal to update the policy came after criticism from Gov. Gavin Newsom about the city’s pursuit policy as he assigned more CHP officers to help patrol the city.
A new measure approved by voters in November alongside bills signed by Gov. Newsom should result in a tougher stance on hard drugs, retail theft, and fentanyl.
