The Blotter | Driver charged with DUI

A male driver from Oakland was pulled over at 6:08 a.m. on Sept. 15 on Highland Avenue. The driver was driving a pickup truck. Piedmont Police found him exhibiting signs of alcohol and also found open containers in the vehicle, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan.

The driver failed field sobriety tests, according to Captain Monahan, and took preliminary alcohol screening tests, producing Blood Alcohol Levels of 0.182 and 0.176 percent.

The driver was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and charged with DUI.

On Sept. 14, Piedmont Police found a Toyota Corolla near MacArthur Boulevard and Manila Avenue at 6:47 a.m. The officer recognized the vehicle from a previous reckless driving report from Sept. 9, according to Captain Monahan. A VIN check showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland. The son of the registered owner was contacted.
