PRFO president Steve Collins spoke to supporters at an August event.

On Tuesday the Piedmont Recreational Facilities Organization (PRFO) announced that its fundraising efforts for the Piedmont Community Pool Project have raised over $1,000,000 towards their goal of $2.1 million. The group congratulated the city on awarding a contract for construction of the new facility to Wickman Development & Construction on Dec. 5.

From the PRFO email on Dec. 6:

It has been a long road. From the City approval of the master plan and the passage of Measure UU to a global pandemic and the resulting cost impact. PRFO commends the City of Piedmont for the dedication and thoughtfulness they have put into this project. It is now full steam ahead and PRFO is asking for community support to raise the additional funds needed to complete the vision.

“As with our past projects at Hampton Field and the Corey Reich Tennis Center, we are dedicated to ensuring the City has the funds needed to complete this project,” says Steve Collins, President of PRFO. “Funding will ensure that our student athletes and advanced swimmers finally have a practice and competitive aquatic center in town that includes a deep-water pool with diving well and three (3) additional 25-yard lap lanes.”

With PRFO funding, the new Pool project will also include 3,000 square feet of shallow recreation water ensuring the youngest community members have the space to swim and learn water safety while creating a Recreational Center for the entire community. “This will be a centerpiece of our city to last for generations, but we are only halfway to our goal. Community support is needed to make it happen.”

PRFO is thankful for the support from organizations like the Piedmont Beautification Foundation and the Piedmont Education Foundation and to the families that have generously donated to date. With the year-end approaching, PRFO’s fundraising efforts are ramping up and we hope the community will visit PRFO.org to learn more and donate.

PRFO and the City of Piedmont will be celebrating the start of construction with a public groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 11:00 a.m. (See details below.)
