Parents fundraise for school crossing guards

Piedmont’s school crossing guards are out of work, but a group Beach Parent Organization (BPO) parents have spearheaded an effort to support them during the employment crisis created by the coronavirus-related shutdown.

The guards are not paid by the school district. Parent Tonya Antonucci learned from the city that Piedmont contracts with a company to deliver crossing guard services. That service and payment to those individuals were suspended by the outsourcing company when the district shut down its campuses.

The GoFundMe effort launched by Amanda Berns has raised over $20,000 in six days. You can make a donation here.
