Piedmont High School’s swim team put together an impressive showing in their meet against Bishop O’Dowd, highlighted by a strong performance from the varsity boys and a number of standout individual swims.

According to Swim Cloud’s most recent results, the Piedmont varsity boys secured a decisive 110–49 victory over Bishop O’Dowd. While the varsity girls did not come away with a win, Head Coach Elizabeth Dally emphasized pride in the team’s overall effort and competitiveness throughout the meet.

Dally highlighted several swimmers who led the way in scoring. “Our top point scorers for varsity were Cole Carnazzo and Sam White with 12 points each, and Dima Secor, Connor Carnazzo, and Asher Takazawa with 10 points each,” she said. “On the girls’ side, Sofia Vuori had 7 points, and Indie Briskman and Brooke Patchen each had 6 points.”

Highlighting the meet, Dally said, “Dean Kvoriak made his varsity debut in the 500 freestyle and won with a time of 5:54.60, which was a great moment for the team. We also took both first and second in the 200 freestyle relay, which really showed our depth.” The A relay team of Anton Secor, Jeffrey Latronica, Asher Takazawa, and Dima Secor placed first with a time of 1:31.52, while the B relay team, Ben Kappes, Dean Kvoriak, Henry Stein, and Leo Maltz, finished second in 1:40.47.

On the girls’ side, Dally noted, “Sofia Vuori won the 50 freestyle in 27.02, and Charlotte Zhang took second in 27.59. It was great to see strong performances like that.”

Despite the intense 90-degree heat, the team maintained high energy throughout the meet. “Even in the heat, the team did exceptionally well,” Dally said. “We always start with a cheer created by our captain Cole Carnazzo, ‘What time is it? Game time!’ and that really sets the tone.”

Looking ahead, Piedmont will face Berkeley High in their next meet. As this is Dally’s first season as head coach, she expressed confidence in her team’s effort and attitude moving forward.
