Collections continue tomorrow and regular service is expected to resume Monday, July 21.
The City has relayed a statement from Republic Services:
Republic Services reached a tentative agreement with Teamsters Local 439 for our Forward Landfill employees. Local 439 has informed us that picket lines are coming down across the Bay Area, and our employees are returning to work tomorrow.
We appreciate the community’s patience throughout this situation, and we will work hard to catch up with needed recycling and waste collection as quickly as we can.

UPDATE: July 18, 2025:
Republic Services has resumed collecting organic waste and increased recycling collections in Piedmont, though service across all waste streams remains irregular and behind schedule.
As of Friday, July 18:
- Trash collection is continuing, including backyard pickup
- Organics collection resumed on Thursday, July 17
- Limited recycling collections have occurred since July 10, with increased service beginning today
All households in Piedmont should have received at least one trash (black bin) collection since July 8. Any residents who have had no waste collection should use the City’s online self-reporting tool to notify staff immediately so service to their address can be prioritized.

Keep carts out until collected and report pickup status
City staff have been working actively with Republic Services to ensure continued collections in Piedmont since a regional work stoppage began on July 8. Ongoing documentation about where service has occurred is an important tool.
Residents can support documentation efforts:
- Report what collections you have received at PiedmontWastePickups
- Keep your carts out curbside until they are collected. Once a waste stream is collected, bring that cart in until your next regular collection day.
These indicators provide valuable information as staff work to confirm collection status reports and coordinate with Republic Services to prioritize areas most in need of service.
