The Board of Education approved the appointment of new principals for Havens and Wildwood Elementary Schools at its regular meeting on Wednesday night. Both will start July 1, 2025.
Susanne Reed, the current principal of Rosa Parks Environmental Science Magnet in Berkeley Unified School District, will serve as the next principal for Havens Elementary School. She will replace Principal Anne Dolid who is moving on from her role at that school at the end of this school year. Reed has more than two decades in education, (See her full bio HERE.)
The district said it received 34 applications for the position and narrowed the list down to five for the first round of interviews. “Susanne rose to the top, easily,” said Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Hawn.
Amy Fry, the vice principal at Hearst and Mohr Elementary Schools in the Pleasanton Unified School District, will serve as the next principal of Wildwood Elementary School. She will replace Beth Rhine, who has served as Wildwood’s interim principal after Melissa Daymond resigned unexpectedly last fall. Fry also has over two decades in education, and served as a literacy coach in Berkeley schools before stepping into administration. (Read her full bio HERE.)
The district said it received 28 applications for the position and narrowed the list down to five for the first round of interviews. “Amy instantly clicked with the interview panels,” said Board President Lindsay Thomasson.
