Piedmont celebrates its heritage trees

Will, Finn and Max Brumfiel tell why they love this Coast Live Oak (quercus agrifolia), which they've dubbed "the climbing tree"

To help the community celebrate Arbor Day 2021, which was virtual due to COVID, KCOM produced a video which honored Piedmont’s 19 Heritage Trees with cameos of tree lovers around town, and insight from keynote speaker and Piedmont resident Zack Parisa, founder of Silva Terra.

For Arbor Day 2022, Piedmont City Park Commission is hosting a week-long ACTUAL celebration of the trees in our midst. The week culminates with the screening of Intelligent Trees, the Movie in the Park on Thursday, April 28. At that time residents’ 2022 Heritage Tree nominations will be selected and announced in Piedmont Park just before the film shows.

Movie in the Park: Intelligent Trees on Thurs. April 28 at 8:30 p.m. We will have popcorn at Community Hall before the film; and there will be a free raffle for two trees to take home and plant in your garden!
