Tracking COVID in Piedmont | August 3

Piedmont COVID case numbers jumped by four over the weekend, from 200 to 204 as reported by the Alameda County Health Department on Tuesday, August 3.

The spike in cases this summer has exceeded summer 2020 numbers, as visible in the county’s dashboard:

But the efficacy of vaccines in preventing death is also apparent:

Piedmont has maintained a high vaccination rate (86 percent fully vaccinated) and Alameda County overall is relatively well-vaccinated:

On Tuesday, Alameda County and other Bay Area counties re-instituted a mask mandate as this new wave of COVID cases sweeps the region:
