Police post alert about rise in attacks on Asian Americans

The Piedmont Police posted the following notice on Facebook:

Communities across the country are seeing a troubling series of attacks against elderly Asians Americans. The Piedmont Police Department would like to make our community aware of similar violent crimes in Oakland that have also targeted Asian Americans. Most of these crimes have been assaults and robberies and have occurred during daylight hours.

We have been following the events very closely and been in contact with the Oakland Police Department. We would like to reassure our community that we are working to ensure your safety. Race-based attacks and incidents will be thoroughly investigated and will not be tolerated in Piedmont. We want everyone to read and share the crime prevention tips below [here].
