Saturday’s news that the U.S. presidential race had been called in favor of former Vice President Joe Biden and Bay Area native Senator Kamala Harris drew jubilant crowds out to celebrate, and Piedmont was no exception. Local Democrats who had spent months organizing for Democratic causes and candidates — members of the “Highland Alliance” and others — met up in Piedmont Park to toast the win. The party continued down Grand Ave. to Lake Merritt.
