Last May, San Francisco Chronicle writer Otis R. Taylor, Jr. first reported on the story of Piedmont resident Terry McGrath and his effort to help an Oakland homeless couple, Greg Dunston and Marie Mckinzie, get off the streets. The Exedra did a follow-up interview with McGrath in July, in which the real-estate developer explained why he chose to open his home and reflected on what could be done to address the homeless issue in the Bay Area.
In the latest update, Taylor checks back in with Dunston, Mckinzie, and McGrath to see how things have been going. It hasn’t been easy — for any of them — though the unease some Piedmonters initially had about the arrangement appears to have dissipated.
