On April 6, Troop 4’s Mollie King made local scouting history, becoming the first female Eagle Scout in the Piedmont Council. King joined Troop 4 in February, 2019, as soon as girls were allowed to join. Her friend Hannes Rodriguez invited her to a meeting and King was hooked, said her mother Sarah King. “I think she was motivated by the opportunity to be a trailblazer!”

King recently completed her Eagle project, a 4′ x 8′ shade structure at Moore Creek Park in Napa, which will provide a place for hikers and other park users to cool off and enjoy the park.

King is graduating from Bishop O’Dowd High School in May and will attend UC San Diego in the fall.

King will be honored on May 15 at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor.
