Alameda County seeks grand jurors

René C. Davidson Courthouse

The Superior Court of Alameda County is seeking residents to serve on the Alameda County Civil Grand Jury. The jury’s primary responsibility is to examine and report on the operations of local government agencies and to investigate citizen complaints, acting as the public’s watchdog.

As a member of the Civil Grand Jury, you’d work with 18 other panel members to investigate citizen complaints and examine the operations of local government agencies across Alameda County. This work involves reading and analyzing investigative materials, questioning witnesses, and writing reports.

Serving on the Grand Jury is a rewarding experience, but also a significant commitment – the jury meets twice a week (Wednesday and Thursday mornings) for a year. Most jurors devote additional time beyond this to their service. Grand jurors are paid $15/day plus mileage and/or public transportation reimbursement.

Applications for the 2025-2026 term (starting July 1) are due by April 15. To apply, visit the Alameda County Grand Jury website.
