Vehicle stolen from Keefer Court
A stolen vehicle was quickly recovered and a suspect was arrested.
The theft occurred either on Jan. 28 or 29. The victim reported he parked his 2024 Toyota RAV4 in front of his residence on Keefer Court at 3 p.m. on Jan. 28. At 10:40 a.m. on Jan. 29, he came out and found the vehicle gone.
At 8:06 p.m. on Jan. 29, the CHP notified Piedmont Police that the vehicle had been found in Oakland in good condition, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan. He also said they had a suspect in custody.
Early on the morning of Jan. 29, Piedmont Police conducted a traffic stop at Grand and Ramona Avenues. A black 2004 Toyota Prius was pulled over at 4:04 a.m. for running a red light at Grand and Oakland Avenue. The vehicle was also drifting in and out of the traffic lane, according to Captain Monahan.
The police observed signs of intoxication, according to Captain Monahan and field sobriety tests were conducted. Captain Monahan said the driver did poorly. The driver refused a preliminary alcohol screening test, a breath test and a voluntary blood draw and was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. A blood draw warrant was issued.
