Piedmont saw a pair of DUI arrests within a few hours of each other.
At 11:08 p.m. on Oct. 27, a driver was pulled over for speeding, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan. He said the suspect showed signs of alcohol impairment and was identified by his California driver’s license as a resident of Piedmont. Monahan said the driver was unable to complete the field sobriety tests.
The male suspect declined to take a preliminary alcohol screening and took a blood test. He was released to his spouse after being arrested for DUI.
At approximately 1:22 a.m. on Oct. 28, a Piedmont police officer was driving on Grand Avenue and saw a silver 2014 Toyota approaching him, according to Monahan. He said the vehicle had no working passenger side headlight. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over and, according to Monahan, the vehicle did not initially stop.
The driver eventually stopped on Linda Avenue. The officer reported the suspect showed signs of intoxication, according to Monahan, and failed the field sobriety tests. A blood tech was summoned and the driver was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and charged with DUI.
