Long time Piedmont resident and conservation leader Cameron Wolfe will be honored by the Sonoma Botanical Garden (SBG) as its 2026 Gala Honoree & Legacy Leader at its annual gala in Glen Ellen, CA on Oct. 3.
Wolfe, who was a partner at the San Francisco office of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe, LLP, became associated with Sonoma Botanical Garden in 2000, named at the time Quarryhill Botanical Garden, when the Garden’s visionary founder, Jane Davenport Jansen, passed away unexpectedly. Piedmont doyenne Helen Breck was on the Garden’s Board and recruited Wolfe to help the Garden weather legal matters related to Jansen’s death. Wolfe continued to provide pro bono legal services to the Garden and eventually served two 6-year terms on its Board and two years as the Board President.
“Cameron stepped forward at a pivotal moment in the Garden’s history and has remained a steadfast champion for more than 25 years,” says Jeannie Perales, Executive Director, SBG. “His leadership, generosity, and commitment to conservation have helped the Garden endure and thrive. We are deeply grateful and proud to honor his remarkable legacy.”
Wolfe is renowned for his volunteer efforts around Piedmont as well. He joined the Piedmont Recreation Committee in the late ‘60s and served two years as its Chair. In that role, he helped establish the Piedmont Fourth of July Parade. He and his wife, Fran, organized Piedmont’s first Tree Lighting Ceremony in conjunction with the Piedmont Beautification Foundation. Most importantly, he secured the school-owned property at the corner of Hampton and Lasalle for the City of Piedmont and helped raise funds for the ballpark and playfield there. Wolfe has served on the Piedmont Education Foundation Board and the Piedmont Beautification Foundation where he continues to serve as an Advisor.
Wolfe’s interest in the environment also led him to serve on the League to Save Lake Tahoe Board for 25 years. He and his wife Fran served as trustees for the Yosemite Fund for over 10 years. They are also long-time supporters of Save the Redwoods League and in 2012, Cameron commemorated a redwood grove in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to Fran – the Fran B. Wolfe Grove.
