From a Sept 4, 2026 press release from the City of Piedmont:
For a limited time, Piedmont homeowners can get rooftop solar and battery storage at roughly 15% below average market rates by pooling their buying power with others through the Bay Area SunShares program.
Rooftop solar reduces greenhouse gas emissions from your home and provides savings on your utility bill. Battery backups allow you to store energy for later use, which can help keep essential devices like medical equipment and refrigerators running during power outages. Both tools help contribute to energy independence and increase your home’s value.
SunShares discounts are available for any combination of solar and/or battery storage, either as a standalone installation or added to an existing system. SunShares installers offer a variety of financing options, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). For eligible projects, the City of Piedmont’s home electrification rebate program can further offset costs.
