I am writing to express my strong support for Bill Reichle for Piedmont City Council.
I have known Bill for decades and can attest to both his professional skills and personal character. We share a deep affection for the University of California, Berkeley, where we worked together at the Cal Alumni Association. Bill went on to become an Assistant Vice Chancellor at UC Berkeley, helping manage departments similar to those within Piedmont’s city administration, including police, facilities, and capital functions.
Bill’s financial acumen, personnel-management skills, sound judgment, and diplomacy were instrumental to his success. More than professional expertise, however, Bill brought integrity and character to his work. Cal is fundamentally a “people business,” and Bill worked seamlessly with colleagues, students, alumni, partners, and administrators across campus.
Bill brings those same qualities to his commitment to Piedmont. As a 20-year resident and longtime volunteer, he knows and loves our community. I am confident he would approach difficult issues with tact, diplomacy, and respect for differing perspectives.
I share Bill’s three top priorities: public safety, fiscal discipline, and community engagement. I believe his skills, experience, character, and values will help him serve Piedmont thoughtfully and effectively during these challenging times.
