San Francisco will host next year’s WNBA All-Star Game, the women’s pro basketball league announced Tuesday.

The Golden State Valkyries, which started as an expansion franchise last year, will host the 2027 All-Star Game and related festivities on July 30-31 at Chase Center.

The Valkyries have made it to the WNBA playoffs in each of their first two years after clinching a postseason spot Monday. The Valkyries said they are now the 14th team in North American professional sports history to reach the postseason in each of their first two seasons of existence.

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie on Tuesday said the WNBA All-Star Game is the latest high-profile sporting event to come to the city and region, which also recently hosted the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup earlier this year. Major League Baseball also announced last week that the 2028 MLB All-Star Game will be hosted in San Francisco.

“When the WNBA’s best come next year, our unmatched passion for women’s sports, and our city’s comeback, will be on full display,” Lurie said in a statement.

“Major events like these help us keep the momentum going as fans eat at our restaurants, drink at our bars, and stay at our hotels — supporting the owners and workers at small businesses across the city. Next year, we will once again show the world that San Francisco, like the WNBA, is on the rise,” he said.
