Man found with firearms at traffic stop
A man tied to two auto burglaries was arrested a traffic stop near where some of the burglaries occurred, according to Piedmont Police. According to a post on Facebook, Piedmont Police were investigating auto burglaries that had happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 16. At 5:56 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle that was similar to a vehicle suspected to be involved. A search of the vehicle turned up two firearms concealed inside the engine compartment, according to the Facebook post.
The driver was found to be a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms according to the Police Department. The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on multiple felony charges.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
On Aug. 17, a black Segway Ninebot 52 scooter was taken on Blair Place between 6:50-6:55 p.m. Video showed a potential suspect vehicle: a black or dark blue Mazda CX9 passing by. The value of the theft was approximately $600, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan.
On Aug. 17 at 7:45 a.m., a victim stepped away from their running white 2018 BMW X3. When they returned, someone was in the vehicle and drove off.
On Aug. 16, an auto burglary was reported. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger window of a 2026 Acura Integra, according to Monahan, and stole the airbag.
