Employees followed suspect out door
An unknown suspect walked into the ACE Hardware store on Grand Avenue on July 25 and took glue and stain product. The crime reportedly took place around 1 p.m. According to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan, the value of the theft was $80.
The suspect fled on Grand Avenue and was followed by employees up to Sunnyside Avenue. Monahan said suspect information was pending video review and that the case is in progress.
A stolen vehicle was recovered in the area of 38th Street and Manila Avenue in Oakland on July 26. The gray Hyundai Tuscon was found by Piedmont police. It had been reported stolen in Oakland. A phone and an EBT card were found in the vehicle, according to Monahan, and a CRIMS search found the name on the card was linked to a felony warrant for organized retail theft out of Emeryville. Monahan added that Piedmont police were seeking to contact the individual.
On July 30, a catalytic converter was taken from a Honda Accord on Magnolia Avenue. No further information is available.
