A cart of tools estimated to be worth $1,200 was taken from a van on Magnolia Avenue on June 27. The report came in at 9:52 a.m. with the victim stating the incident happened 20 minutes prior. Police investigated, and using a neighbor’s Ring camera, were able to identify a white Honda SUV as a suspect vehicle.
Using Flock cameras and other surveillance, a license plate belonging to another vehicle was found on the suspect vehicle. The license plate was reported stolen the next day to the Oakland Police Department, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan.
Alameda Police found the suspect vehicle parked and unoccupied in their city. A VIN check showed it had been reported stolen out of Oakland, according to Monahan, and it was returned to its owner. No further information is available on suspects or the tools.
A disturbance between two drivers was reported at 5:47 p.m. on July 1. According to the police log, a witness said the argument was over who should yield near Lake Avenue. Both exited their vehicles and one driver apparently felt threatened and pulled out pepper spray. The police log said the spray was not used and both drivers returned to their vehicles and went their separate ways.
On July 3, a dog was reported to have gotten loose and killed a neighbor’s chicken in a chicken coop on Mountain Avenue. A neighbor heard the commotion and was able to get the dog out of the coop.
