On Wednesday, July 22, the Piedmont Cobras summer all-star team capped off their historic run with a 5-1 victory over Walnut Creek Little League All-Stars at the 2026 McLin Courage Classic in Lafayette. Stone Cameron went 2 for 3 and belted his second home run of the tournament while Lucas Olson pitched five innings, giving up one run and striking out eleven, for the victory.
The Cobras formed in 2022 as an 8u “coach pitch” summer team, drawing from top players in the Piedmont Baseball and Softball Foundation (PBSF) Spring recreational league. Over the course of four years, the Cobras amassed 77 wins against 34 losses and won eight tournaments, making them one of the most successful summer all-star teams in PBSF history.
In the other 2026 tournament, hosted by the Millbrae Baseball Association in June, the Cobras prevailed 15-1 in the championship against the South City Fog. Nate Stein was the winning pitcher while Griffin Jacobs got the save. Stein and Jacobs also hit multiple homers in the tournament, along with Olson and starting shortstop, Theo Delventhal.
“This is a special group of kids,” said Cobras head coach and PBSF President Dave Emanuelson, “and it has been my absolute privilege to see them grow over the last four years. The success of our summer teams is also a testament to the strong baseball community we have in Piedmont. Our coaches and parents volunteer hundreds of hours to bring these summer teams to life, on top of all the work they do for our recreational league in the Spring.”
Along with the 12u Piedmont Cobras, PBSF sponsored summer teams for 11u (Piedmont Bulldogs), 10u (Piedmont Panthers), 9u (Piedmont Eagles), and 8u (Piedmont Sea Lions). Each team had a successful campaign and will be continuing on next year.
While the Cobras have now graduated from the summer circuit, the players will be moving up to play for the PMS Scots next Spring. If history is any judge, the future looks bright for Piedmont baseball.
