Who’s that Good Dog?

Family: Ryan Jones, Maureen Carroll, Evan Jones, Connor Jones

Name: Lily

Age: 13

Breed: Boxador (Boxer and Labrador Retriever mix)

Adoption story: When we were expecting our first child in 2019, we wanted to have our kids grow up with a dog and we realized it would be best to have the dog acclimated to our family before the baby arrived. So we looked through thousands of Labrador adoption listings and ultimately found Lily, who was being rehomed from a loving family in Fresno. Lily was living with a family who had a toddler and she was extremely gentle around babies and toddlers. She subsequently came to view our two sons as her puppies and cares deeply for them.

Likes: Lily is a very active and social dog, and her dog walker once called her a social butterfly. Lily loves to go on walks, both locally around Piedmont and on group walks with Aaron through Dog About Town. Her favorite dog toy is a plush, squeaky lamb chop which requires constant replacement due to chewing. Like most labs, Lily has an insatiable appetite and especially loves eating food that she isn’t supposed to eat such as entire loaves of bread. She also really enjoys car rides and beach time. Even at the age of 13, Lily does triple loop jumps to show her excitement for car rides.

Dislikes: Lily loves her “pack” of family and friends, and suffers separation anxiety whenever anyone leaves, especially when our kids go to school. She barks loudly when people leave our house. She also dislikes vet visits and baths but is well behaved for both.

Interesting facts: Unlike most dogs, Lily gets along with cats and even allows a neighbor cat to play with her tail like it’s a cat toy. She has no hunting instincts, doesn’t chase after squirrels and rarely barks at other animals. Additionally, when spoken to, Lily tilts her head as if she’s trying to understand what you’re saying.
