Suspect took tools worth $700
An unknown suspect broke into a white pickup truck parked on Sandringham Road at 4:39 a.m. on May 23. Both back passenger windows were broken, causing approximately $1,400 worth of damage. About $700 worth of tools were taken as well.
After an investigation of potential vehicles involved in the incident came up empty, Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan said it appears the suspect was on foot.
One person was detained after a stolen silver Honda Accord was found parked at Santa Clara and Fairmont avenues on May 25 at 11:32 p.m. Police conducted a VIN check and found the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland.
A woman approached the scene and asked if she could retrieve her belongings out of the vehicle, according to Captain Monahan. He said she was detained and “mirandized.” He added that because she admitted to being inside the vehicle, had belongings in it and “was covered in dog hair” (a large dog cage was inside the Accord), she was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
On May 17, a report came in at 3:12 p.m. on a vehicle “ramming” another vehicle on Grand Avenue, according to Captain Monahan. Police met with the victim at her residence in Oakland. She said she was upset but not injured. She described the other vehicle as a silver Honda and said it cut her off, then hit the brakes multiple times in front of her vehicle. Police are investigating.
Captain Monahan said the silver Honda was found on Grove Street around 8:26 p.m. the same day. The vehicle showed minor damage and was towed.
On May 19, a black Audi A4 was reported to have been broken into between 4:30 p.m. on May 18 and 8 a.m. on May 19 on Blair Avenue. No loss was reported but damage to a broken window was estimated to be $270.
On May 21, a report came in on a man trespassing in a backyard on Olive Avenue at 3:18 p.m. Police found a male suspect without a weapon. A records check showed the suspect had a bench warrant for violation of a court order outstanding, according to Captain Monahan. He said the suspect was found to have a glass pipe. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
