Gathering at Lake Merritt Friday evening for missing Oakland woman Amy Hillyard

Friends and family of a woman who has been missing for three months will hold a community awareness walk around Lake Merritt on Friday.

Supporters of Amy Hillyard will start gathering at 5 p.m. at the Pergola at Lake Merritt and the community walk will start at 5:30 p.m p.m.

Lake Merritt was a place where Hillyard frequently walked with friends and family. Friday’s walk is a display of support to the Hillyard family and represents a commitment to finding her.

The search for Hillyard is still going strong with a new team of private investigators on the case and recent discoveries of previously reviewed footage.

Three weeks ago, a private investigation and search and rescue firm, SEARCH Investigations LLC, was hired by the Hillyard family to help in the search. Search Investigations is currently going through surveillance videos that were previously unseen or were recently obtained through search warrants.

Within the last week, it was determined that video footage from Dimond Park that was initially believed to have shown Amy has since been determined to not be her. 

The $25,000 reward for information on Hillyard’s disappearance is still in effect.

“Amy’s superpower is to bring out the best in people. She made me a better person; she makes most people she comes in contact with a better person. She’s able to bring out everyone superpowers. Now we need those powers to bring her home,” said Amy’s husband Chris Hillyard in a video posted on bringamyhome.com.

Bringamyhome.com is a site created by Amy’s friends and family where supporters can stay up to date on the status of current efforts to find Hillyard. The site also has various ways that people can help in the search.

Amy Hillyard is white and 52 years old. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 120 pounds, and has blonde hair and hazel eyes.
