The Piedmont High School baseball and softball teams earned berths into the North Coast Section playoffs. Both teams will open the playoffs at home.
The baseball team earned the No. 6 seed in Division 4 and will host Livermore on May 20. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Highlanders went 10-15-2 on the season, 4-6 in West Alameda County Conference play. Piedmont ended the season on a four-game losing streak and will look to get back on the winning side of the ledger against the Cowboys. Livermore is 6-18 including 1-7 in the East Bay Athletic League, the toughest league in the area, which includes De La Salle.
The winner will face the winner of the Haward-Justin Siena-Napa game.
The softball team also earned a sixth seed, this time in Division 6. The Highlanders will host California School for the Deaf on May 19 at 5 p.m. Piedmont finished 12-10 on the year including 6-4 in the WACC. The Highlanders offense has been strong, averaging 13 runs per game.
The Eagles are 8-12-1 on the year, including 2-8 in the Bay Counties League East division.
The winner of the game will advance to face No. 3 Willits in the second round.
