Oakland police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of robbing a bank in the Piedmont Avenue neighborhood earlier this week.
District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced Friday afternoon that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against 36-year-old Matthew Harris in connection with the April 20 robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank at 151 40th St., Oakland. The bank sits at the center of the busy Piedmont Avenue shopping district.
The District Attorney’s Office charged Harris with robbery and related offenses. Harris will be arraigned on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
Oakland police reported that on Wednesday at about 11:30 p.m., officers took Harris into custody at a home in West Oakland without a struggle and, following the execution of a search warrant, found evidence that allegedly ties him to the robbery.
