The Piedmont High School softball team returned to West Alameda County Conference Shoreline B division play on April 15 with an 18-8 win over visiting Tennyson in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.
Hannah Joerger was the big bat for the Highlanders, going two for three with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored. Hanley Carling was two for two with two RBI and two runs. Hailey Navarro, Talia Perl, Edie Elmquist, Samantha Schey, and Makenna Small each drove in two runs. Penelope Hopper and Elly Mak each scored three runs.
Perl was the beneficiary, going the distance, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Enilayah Cuevas went the distance for the Lancers. She gave up 10 hits and 12 walks while striking out four.
Bailee Ly went two for two with three runs scored for Tennyson. Alejandra Sanchez was three for three with an RBI and a run scored. Cuevas was two for four with four runs scored. Stephanie Gonzalez was two for three with two RBI.
Piedmont improved to 9-6 on the season, 3-1 in WACC Shoreline B play. The Highlanders are next scheduled to face Berkeley at home on April 22.
