Despite a rainy opening day on April 11, the community pool was so busy this past weekend that the city is asking visitors to consider planning a visit in the morning or evening when crowds are lightest.
April preview pricing — $5 drop-ins — continues through April 30.
From the City of Piedmont’s community pool email sent on Monday, April 20:
Preview pricing continues through April 30 – consider visiting during off-peak hours, if possible
$5 drop-ins continue through April 30.
We’re thrilled so many people are taking advantage of the April preview pricing – but the flip side is that we’re seeing large crowds at the activity pool, particularly on weekend afternoons between 2 and 4 p.m.
When we’re approaching peak capacity, annual passholders will have priority admission, and drop-in visitors may need to wait for swimmers to exit the facility.
A few tips to keep in mind:Consider visiting in the morning or evening when crowds are lighter – especially if you’re bringing small children.
Plan ahead: next Saturday, April 25 – Piedmont FoodFest will draw very large crowds to Piedmont Park from 11-4. Parking will be hard to come by, and we’re expecting to be extra busy.We appreciate the community’s patience as we bring Piedmont’s newest facility online. Each new day provides valuable data to help us better anticipate staffing needs and refine our operations.
Summer swim lesson and class registration opens April 21 for Piedmont residents
Resident registration for summer swim lessons at the new community pool opens on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m.
Make sure your household is ready in the aquatics registration portal now at rec.us/piedmont.
If you were already verified as a resident in Community Pass, resident registration options should be available immediately once you create your account. For new users, residency verification can take a couple of days.
Swim lessons begin in June and will be offered for all ages and experience levels, from “Happy Splashers” parent-and-baby water play for children as young as 6 months, to beginner, intermediate, and advanced options for teens and adults. Private swim instruction will also be available.
The program mix includes adult fitness options as well, with drop-in water aerobics already underway on Tuesday mornings and morning yoga on the rooftop pavilion beginning in May.
Use “Fast Track” to save time at checkout
The registration portal includes a “Fast Track” feature that works like a wish list. Fast Track lets you save programs you want to register for and complete required forms in advance, making checkout faster once registration opens.
Fast Track does not reserve space in a class.
Before registration opens on Tuesday, take a few minutes to:
Sign in at rec.us/piedmont to confirm you have resident status
Add household members who you want to register for lessons
Use Fast Track to save desired programs and complete required forms in advanceSwim lessons registration for resident annual passholders opened on April 14. Annual passholders also receive priority registration for other aquatics programming throughout the year.
