The Piedmont Recreation Department announced winners of the third annual Piedmont Pop-Up Putt-Putt, held in the Community Hall parking lot of Piedmont Park earlier this month.
Best overall: Talons of Flame — Jesse Rae with help from Piedmont Makers
Most creative: Banana Slug Fair — Havens SchoolMates
Best use of recycled materials: Hurkle Durkle — Laura Edeen, and Sarah Eisemon
Most clever: Golden Gate Challenge — Johnathan Davis and Quake City Metal
The community-building event on Sunday, April 19 drew creations from local groups and provided a cheerful diversion for families who were out and about enjoying some sunshine in the center of town.
Putt Putt creators Laura Edeen and Sarah Eisemon, in their second appearance at the new PRD event, constructed a recycled/upcycled garden that used a combination of cardboard boxes, cardboard tubes, brown packing paper and other packaging, plastic bottles and bottle caps and old clothing (stained or ripped), Christmas tree stands, an umbrella, pendant lamp frame, ornaments, a plant stand, and mannequin.
“We have a great time making together and being part of this super fun Community Event,” they said.
Visitors voted on awards for Best Overall Entry, Most Creative, Most Clever and Best Use of Recycled Materials.
