The City of Piedmont hosted its annual Arbor and Earth Day Celebration on Thursday, drawing a crowd of elementary students and parents to Piedmont Community Hall to see Public Works’ big trucks, explore interactive nature-themed activities, and make wildlife-themed crafts.
The city’s Arbor Day celebration dates back to 2007 and celebrates the nearly 9,000 trees the Public Works Department maintains in Piedmont’s parks and public spaces as well as the City’s commitment to environmental stewardship. This year organizers — the Public Works Department and the Park Commission — teamed up with East Bay Children & Nature, an Emeryville-based organization dedicated to fostering stronger connections with nature in children.
