Letter to the Editor | Piedmont schools would falter without the core parcel tax

We are writing to you and the community as former members of the Piedmont Board of Education in support of Measure H, the renewal of the existing core parcel tax supporting Piedmont schools.

During our time on the school board, as we reviewed budgets and made financial decisions for the district, there was one thing that was always clear:  Without the core parcel tax, the Piedmont schools would not function well. The parcel tax provides critical funding for every program that makes our schools outstanding and, importantly,  allows the district to recruit and keep highly qualified teachers in Piedmont.

For close to 40 years, the Piedmont community has overwhelmingly supported our schools through this local parcel tax. Our schools play a critical role in sustaining the strength of our community, as well as our home values. Every resident in Piedmont benefits from strong public schools, whether or not they currently have children enrolled.

We are proud to have served on the Piedmont Board of Education and are committed advocates for this funding source.  We sincerely hope that you will join us in support of Measure H.
