Securing the Future of Transportation, Play, and Student Wellness

The Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) is rolling out the red carpet for an evening of high-stakes philanthropy. Under the theme “A Night Licensed to Give,” this year’s Spring Fling Gala invites the community to step into the world of international intrigue—not for espionage, but to fund the critical “special projects” that keep Beach, Havens, and Wildwood elementary schools at the top of their class.

“We’re looking for those with a ‘License to Give’ to help us secure the assets our students need most,” says Heather Frank, PEF Executive Director. “Whether you’re a high-roller in the auction or a silent partner from home, every contribution is a move toward a more supported educational landscape.”

Working with the schools, PEF has identified three key objectives for this year’s fundraising efforts:

  • Objective: Field Trip Transportation
In the words of Lillian Round, Fourth Grade teacher at Beach, “Field trips enhance the curriculum, making it more meaningful.” By funding dedicated transportation, we ensure our young recruits can explore beyond the classroom without logistical interference.
  • Objective: Structured Play
Play is the ultimate training ground. This initiative funds structured play programs that blend guided strategy with creative freedom, helping students master the art of problem-solving and empathy on the playground.
  • Objective: Elementary Counseling
Spring Fling continues to fund on-site counseling services to help students navigate complex emotions. As one Havens student noted, “My counselor taught me there are two sides to every story, and it is important to hear both sides,” a vital lesson for any budding diplomat.

The action begins with the Online Auction, which is open to everyone, from Tuesday, April 14 to Tuesday, April 22. Elementary parents are invited to support these efforts by becoming a Parent Sponsor, purchasing tickets to the Gala, or attending a Parent Theme Party.
