The weekend closure of a stretch of Interstate 80 through San Francisco for maintenance work was completed successfully and ahead of schedule, Caltrans said Monday.
Eastbound I-80 on the Bayshore Freeway reopened Sunday night, which Caltrans said was several hours earlier than planned, after crews completed major weekend repairs.
The closure affected eastbound I-80 between 17th and Fourth streets in San Francisco, where crews worked to rehabilitate nearly two miles of freeway. The roadway reopened at 11:13 p.m. Sunday, about seven hours ahead of schedule, Caltrans said.
Construction teams also used the closure window to repair the Fourth Street off-ramp, which Caltrans said allowed them to avoid a separate weekend shutdown that would have been needed later.
