A woman was cited for DUI after colliding with a parked car on Harvard Road on Feb. 22. The collision was reported to the Piedmont Police Department at approximately 5:43 p.m.
When police arrived, a witness reported that the driver had stumbled out of the vehicle and appeared intoxicated, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan. He said the suspect admitted to driving the vehicle. He added that she had a laceration on her hand that merited medical attention.
She was taken to Summit Alta Bates Hospital for treatment. A blood draw warrant was issued. According to Monahan, an attempt to serve the warrant on the suspect led to her becoming “combative and physically resistive.” The suspect was cited and released at the hospital.
On Feb. 25, Piedmont Police found a male asleep in the area of Grand and Wildwood avenues at 12:37 a.m. A records check turned up multiple warrants for the individual including for robbery, indecent exposure, and sexual registrant requirements. The suspect was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
Two reports of stolen catalytic converters, both involving a Prius, came in on the morning of Feb. 24, one on Ramona Avenue and the other on Monticello Avenue. They were the second and third reports in February after none in January and just one in December.
On Feb. 25, a 2024 Kia Seltos was reported stolen from a driveway on Pacific Avenue. The time of the theft was between 8 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 1:55 p.m. on Feb. 25.
On Feb. 27, a vehicle that had been reported stolen was recovered on Sunnyside Avenue. Police found an unoccupied red 2015 Hyundai Sonata. A VIN check showed it had been reported stolen in Oakland. The victim was from San Leandro.
