Piedmont High School’s baseball team got back on the winning track, sweeping a pair of games with Castro Valley.
On March 24, the Highlanders beat the Trojans on the road, 9-3. A four-run second got Piedmont going while a combined five runs in the fifth and sixth put the game away.
Diego Delventhal led the offense, going three for three with three RBI and two runs scored. Jonah Cha-Foster was two for four with two RBI and two runs scored. Aiden Bell went two for four with an RBI and Jack Meyjes was one for three with two RBI.


Ben Sorensen went the first five innings for the win, allowing two runs on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Orion Sachs went the final two innings, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
Gavin Perkins took the loss for Castro Valley, allowing six runs on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Nolan Cormier went two for two for the Trojans.

On March 26, Piedmont beat Castro Valley at Humphries Diamond, 9-2. This time, it was a seven-run fourth that broke it open.
Jack Meyjes went three for four with an RBI for the Highlanders. Cha-Foster was one for four with two RBI and two runs scored. Diego Delventhal went one for two with two RBI and two runs scored. Massimo Mittone went the first five innings for the win, allowing two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Thomas Moision went the final two, allowing just a hit and a walk with one strikeout.
Andrew Munoz took the loss, going 3 2/3 innings and allowing just one earned run out of eight total. He walked four and allowed four hits while striking out two. Caleb Anderson went two for three with two RBI.


On March 21, Piedmont played to a 4-4 tie against Moreau Catholic. Delventhal went three for four with a double and a homer, driving in four runs. Lucas Delventhal and Max Fujimoto each went two for four with a run scored.
Brian Radford went two for four with an RBI and a run scored for the Mariners.
