Losing streak reaches seven

Piedmont High School’s boys soccer team dropped a 4-0 match with Alameda on Feb. 3, extending the Highlanders losing streak to seven.

Piedmont is now 2-13 on the year, 1-8 in West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division play.

Eric Sikora scored twice on headers for the Hornets to give them a 2-0 lead. Both goals were set up off of corner kicks from Daniel Pell.

Ollie Cunningham scored off a Timothy Song assist and Dylan Speed scored a goal assisted by Cunningham.

“We just sort of came out with the same game plan we have for most games,” Alameda coach Chris Lonsdale said. “Playing to how the other team plays. Looking either to find the back space. Nothing too crazy.”

The Hornets are 11-5-2 and 7-8.

On Jan. 29, Piedmont lost 2-1 at Hayward. Yurem Alberto had both goals for the Farmers. Carlos Gonzalez had an assist. Scoring for the Highlanders was unavailable.

On Jan. 27, Piedmont lost 4-0 at home to San Leandro. Christian Juarez had two goals for the Pirates. Giovanni Pena and Angel Carreno also had goals. Angel Ledesma and Raul Rodriguez recorded assists.
