The unseasonably warm conditions in Piedmont Friday are expected to continue into Saturday, with a high of 80 degrees in town and even higher temperatures forecast for areas further inland.
National Weather Service forecasters said Bay Area residents should take steps to limit heat-related impacts, including drinking more water, reducing time outdoors during peak sunshine hours, and opening windows at night to bring in cooler air.
Saturday will likely also see increasing clouds. A calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon is expected, according to the weather service. But by Sunday the mercury is set to plummet: while mostly sunny, a high near 63 is expected.
Cooler weather will continue into Monday, followed by near to slightly above normal temperatures from Tuesday through Thursday, according to the weather service.
Overnight temperatures on the weekend and early next week are forecast to hold steady in the mid-50s.
