Piedmont’s annual holiday toy drive benefits two organizations — toys collected through early December are distributed through the Marines Toys for Tots foundation, which has been collecting toys for children in need since 1991. For toys received after the Toys for Tots pickups in the first week of December, the city partners with the “Three Wise Men” giveaway in Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood, ensuring Piedmonters’ generous contributions benefit local families, the city said in an email on Tuesday.
Chief Brannigan joined fire and law enforcement professionals from Oakland and other East Bay agencies at the Three Wise Men event last week, passing out toys to kids in need.
