Highlanders win at St. Joseph-Notre Dame
Piedmont High School’s boys basketball team got its sixth consecutive victory with a 69-58 win at St. Joseph-Notre Dame on Jan. 10.
The Highlanders are now 11-3 on the season.
P.J. Brayer led Piedmont with 27 points and eight rebounds. Dillon Casey had 20 points, six rebounds and four assists.

“Our defense was fantastic,” Highlanders coach Ben Spencer said. “Our energy and urgency was great too. Proud of our defense. In the second quarter, (we) held them to four points.
Spencer was also excited about his offense.
“(The third quarter) was our best offensive quarter of the year,” he said as Piedmont scored 31 points. “(We) were extremely unselfish.”
The 31 points in the third quarter helped blow open a game that the Highlanders led 26-17 at halftime.
Beach Lorin scored all 11 of his points in the second half.
Ariel Garcia Jajeh led the Pilots (6-10) with 18 points.
Next up for Piedmont is a rivalry game at Bishop O’Dowd on Jan. 13. The Dragons come in 9-5 after playing their usual tough preseason schedule.
