Highlanders cruise past Emerald

The Piedmont High School boys basketball team finished up the 2025 portion of its schedule with a 70-53 win over visiting Emerald-Oakland on December 22 at Binks Gymnasium.

Dillon Casey led the Highlanders with 20 points. Beach Lorin had 15 while Will Hinman added 10. Nine players scored for Piedmont in a well-balanced offensive performance.

Freshman Alex Lin led the Aerounants with 15 points. Lin also pulled down 10 rebounds.

The first quarter was a high-scoring battle with Piedmont emerging with a 21-19 advantage. The Highlanders took control in the second quarter, outscoring Emerald, 22-8. Casey scored all of his points in the first half, clocking 10 apiece in the first and second quarters.

Hinman scored seven of his 10 in the fourth quarter to help Piedmont maintain the lead.

The Highlanders (7-3) host McKinleyville on January 3 and Redwood Christian on January 5 before opening West Alameda County Conference play at San Leandro on January 8.
