Boys basketball | Piedmont beats McKinleyville, 65-50

The Piedmont High School boys basketball team opened the new year with a 65-50 win over visiting McKinleyville on Jan. 3 at Binks Gymnasium.

Dillon Casey led the way with 23 points. P.J. Brayer had 16 for the Highlanders (8-2).

Henry Turner IV had 23 points to lead the Panthers (9-6).

Piedmont led 13-10 after one quarter, then extended the lead to 31-21 at halftime. The Highlanders outscored McKinleyville 20-16 in the third and cruised home.

Piedmont played Redwood Christian on January 5. The Highlanders will open West Alameda County Conference play at San Leandro on Jan. 8.
