The Blotter | Tools stolen from vehicle on Farragut

Three suspects reportedly took a bag of power tools out of a vehicle on Farragut Avenue at 9:06 a.m. on Dec. 15.

The suspects were described as wearing all black clothing and black ski masks. The suspects allegedly opened the back of a van and took a crate that had multiple power tools in it, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. They also reportedly took a shop vacuum cleaner. The loss was reported at $3,200.

Captain Monahan said there were no damages to the vehicle from forced entry. The suspects used a newer model two-tone (gray body, white or beige top) Hyundai Kona to get away. The police log said that vehicle was captured on video.

On Dec. 13, a white 2017 Acura MDX was reported stolen in front of a residence on Cambridge Way at approximately 6:30 a.m. The vehicle was later found in Oakland.

On Dec. 15, a female suspect was reported to have taken the rear license plate off of a gray 2019 Hyundai Kona at approximately 8:30 a.m. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of a residence on Trestle Glen Road. A witness reported the woman then entered a gray sedan with a beige top.

At 1:38 a.m. on Dec. 18, Piedmont police found an unoccupied vehicle parked on Santa Clara Street in Oakland. The vehicle had a different license plate attached, according to Captain Monahan. The vehicle and the plate were recovered.
