Oakland’s Interim Police Chief, James Beere, has named three officers to his executive team.

Beere, who was most recently the department’s assistant chief, named Casey Johnson as interim assistant chief of police, the Oakland Police Department said Friday.

Johnson has overseen the Bureau of Field Operations 2 and OPD’s Special Operations Division.

Replacing Johnson is Deputy Chief Angelica Mendoza, who was previously deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Bureau.

Captain Aaron Smith will be promoted to Deputy Chief of the Internal Affairs Bureau. He is a former president of the Black Officers Association.
