Local garden club hosts “Living With Wildfire” community meeting on Jan. 21

Noted ‘dry garden’ photojournalist Saxon Holt and Fire Chief Dave Brannigan discuss fire-wise landscaping and share tips for safer, more resilient outdoor spaces.

The Piedmont Garden Club will present Living With Wildfire on January 21, 2026, a community event focused on increasing local wildfire preparedness and awareness. Residents are invited to join the discussion and learn practical steps they can take to protect their homes and neighborhoods. RSVP by January 16 to admin@piedmontgardenclub.org.

Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan will lead the program with an overview of essential fire-safety practices and home-hardening strategies that can significantly reduce wildfire risk. Joining him is acclaimed photographer and garden expert Saxon Holt, who will share insights into fire-wise landscaping and demonstrate techniques homeowners can apply to create safer, more resilient outdoor spaces.

The event will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Piedmont Community Hall. Attendees are encouraged to come early, enjoy refreshments, and take part in this important conversation about safeguarding our community in an era of increasing wildfire danger.
