Miranda Liu scored a hat trick to help Piedmont High School’s girls soccer team record a 4-0 win over visiting Oakland Tech on Dec. 17 at Witter Field.
Liu’s first goal came on a drive down the left side before a cut toward the net. She used the right foot to put it in for a 1-0 lead.
Liu had an assist on the Highlanders next goal making a back-footed touch pass off of a cross from Olivia Kan-Miller to Olivia Nealon who scored it for a 2-0 lead.
Liu then made a terrific individual effort for her second goal, taking a pass near midfield, then weaving and splitting defenders to take an open shot. That made it 3-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Mackenna Small forced a turnover on the Bulldogs end of the field. The ball went to Lila Rosen who sent it to Liu on the right side to put it away.
Piedmont (2-2-1) was scheduled to play at Head-Royce on Dec. 19. The Highlanders are then off until Jan. 8 when they will begin West Alameda County Conference play at Berkeley.
