Girls soccer | Piedmont beats Head-Royce, 4-0

The Piedmont High School girls soccer team got its third consecutive win on December 19, recording a 4-0 win at Head-Royce.

It was also the third straight shutout for the Highlanders, who haven’t allowed a goal since a 4-0 loss at Cardinal Newman back on December 13.

Piedmont got on the board quick with Makenna Small scoring off of a loose ball in the second minute. The score remained 1-0 at halftime, although the Highlanders had more offensive chances. In the 50th minute, Miranda Liu got free on the left side and connected to the far corner for a 2- 0 lead.

Shortly thereafter, Liu got free again, this time on the right side. Her shot to the box didn’t go in but Ayla Blanford put it home.

Elia Kwong scored from 25 yards out high to the far corner to make it 4-0 later in the second half.

The Highlanders are off until Jan. 8 when they will play at Berkeley.
