Boys basketball | Piedmont gets split decision at Acalanes

Piedmont High School’s boys basketball team split its final two games at the Acalanes Tournament and is now 6-2 on the young season.

The Highlanders beat Northgate on Dec. 12, 54-43.

Beach Lorin scored 22 points to lead Piedmont. P.J. Brayer added 13. Dillon Casey was held to five points.

Colton Merrill led the Broncos with 10 points.

The Highlanders led 28-20 at halftime and held Northgate to 25 points through three quarters.

The next night, Piedmont fell to Campolindo in the consolation championship, 51-47. Brayer led the Highlanders with 19 points and Casey had 14.

Peyton Beld had 23 points to lead the Cougars. Noah Henry added 16 points.

Campolindo led 44-40 entering the fourth quarter but Piedmont was unable to make a run, recording just two field goals in the final period.

The Highlanders and Cougars will have a rematch on Dec. 20 at Campolindo.
